Now I can play music with xmms, but like all other programs there is still no sound.
I'm surprised - you appear to have simple sound hardware that comes up as the alsa default - which other programs do not have sound?
Thank you very much! However, alsa is said to have been a lot of problems, and some people even suggest uninstalling alsa before manually compiling the driver... I have now adopted the way provided by @Sashank999: pulseAudio + pavuControl, and now the sound card is working properly.Thank @Juanito and @sashank999 for your help again.
