Fake-flash testing with dd in TC?
« on: December 19, 2017, 03:13:15 PM »
I wondered if anyone has a favorite fake-flash test script, in particular with busybox' dd command?

I'm about to test things out with TC 8.2.1's busybox dd command something similar to this:

Would the badblocks utility from the e2fsprogs package be a better idea?

We'll see how it goes.  I've seen many flash testers out there, but wanted to be able to do it from a default / installer of TC prior to actually writing to the card and any busybox enhancements or gotcha's to look for...

No problems with TC and busybox dd, fdisk and md5sum!

According to the method above, my 512mb flash card (which I paid $1-per-MB for back in the day) passes!  At that price, I *have* to hang on to it. :)  Proudly put TC on it.

Needless to say, we're dealing with dd and fdisk, so be careful out there.
