Hi Béla,

I'm testing this version on a Raspberry model B, but my WiFi adapter doesn't seem to work on this version.
It is this adapter:
Code: [Select]
tc@4-Gooseberry-PortableStereo:~$ lsusb | grep 7601
Bus 001 Device 007: ID 148f:7601 Ralink Technology, Corp. MT7601U Wireless Adapter

I've installed these extensions:
Code: [Select]
tce-load -wi firmware-ralinkwifi.tcz
tce-load -wi firmware-rtlwifi.tcz

It worked fine on piCore-7.0, and I do see the drivers are there:
Code: [Select]
tc@4-Gooseberry-PortableStereo:~$ sudo find / -name mt7601*
/usr/local/lib/modules/4.1.19-piCore+/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/mediatek/mt7601u
/usr/local/lib/modules/4.1.19-piCore+/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/mediatek/mt7601u/mt7601u.ko.gz
/lib/firmware/mt7601u.bin
/tmp/tcloop/wireless-4.1.19-piCore+/usr/local/lib/modules/4.1.19-piCore+/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/mediatek/mt7601u
/tmp/tcloop/wireless-4.1.19-piCore+/usr/local/lib/modules/4.1.19-piCore+/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/mediatek/mt7601u/mt7601u.ko.gz
/tmp/tcloop/firmware-ralinkwifi/lib/firmware/mt7601u.bin

But it's not loaded:
Code: [Select]
tc@4-Gooseberry-PortableStereo:~$ lsmod
Module                  Size  Used by    Not tainted
snd_usb_audio         139140  0
snd_usbmidi_lib        22679  1 snd_usb_audio
snd_rawmidi            24901  1 snd_usbmidi_lib
snd_seq_device          5142  1 snd_rawmidi
snd_pcm                93037  1 snd_usb_audio
snd_timer              24444  1 snd_pcm
snd_hwdep               6359  1 snd_usb_audio
snd                    68803  7 snd_usb_audio,snd_usbmidi_lib,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq_device,snd_pcm,snd_timer,snd_hwdep

Any idea what's going on?

Hi Gerrelt,

What does the output of dmesg look like in respect to the dongle. Can you boot without it and then insert it and post what is reported in dmesg please.

Cheers

Does WiFi work with 7.1beta1?

Hi Béla,

I've just tested it, and: yes, it "kind of" works with 7.1beta1.
The wlan01 network interface is now present when I execute the "iwconfig" command. Executing the wifi.sh script does also produce a list of WiFi SSID's.
But I cannot connect to my SSID. While trying to connect is throws (among the other output lines), this error:
Code: [Select]
sh: wpa_passphrase: not found
Also, I saw an error while installing wifi.tcz. It reports an checksum error on libn1.tcz:

Code: [Select]

Hi Gerrelt
I don't think there's any md5 problem with libnl:

Hi Béla,

I can confirm that all the WiFi dongles I have tried on 7.1beta1 work.

  These include the following Vendor/Product pairs: 0x0bda/0x8176, 0xbda/0x8178, 0x0bda/0x8179, 0x148f/0x5370, 0x148f/0x7601, 0x148f/0x760b, 0x0a5c/0xbd1e.

I can also confirm that all RPi's, running 7.1beta2, that have
Code: [Select]
disagrees about version of symbol module_layoutmessages also have just the header displayed when running lsmod
Code: [Select]
Module                  Size  Used by    Not tainted and furthermore Wifi modules aren't loaded on any of these.

Hi Béla,

On a clean 7.1beta2 install, I have found that the following WiFi dongles don't work with the current wireless* and firmware* extensions: 0x148f/0x7601, 0x148f/0x760b, 0x0a5c/0xbd1e. All the other ones mentioned in my previous post do work.

lsmod only reports the WiFi module(s), no other ones are reported as loaded.
