updates are missed with "sce-update -a -c"?
« on: May 20, 2015, 08:44:59 AM »
hi jason,

i checked with "sce-update -a -c" whether there are needed updates for me.
but although i use icedove in version 31.6.0 and jessie offers icedove in version 31.7.0
i get no message that an update is needed.
what could be wrong?

thank you for your help.

The main Debian mirror says version 31.6.0-1 in their Packages.xz file, the new 31.7* package is dated yesterday in it's date on their server.  I think when everything syncs it will be ok.  The changelog is not even viewable on the package's details page yet, I reckon yet to be uploaded!

hi jason,

jessie offers iceweasel with 3.17.0 now for pretty long time,
but my iceweasel in dcore withe the version 3.16.0 gets no update.

i guess that i got icedove 3.17.0 in jessie at least one week ago.

thank you for your patience and help.

This package is in the http://security.debian.org/debian-security section.   I will find the right entry to /opt/debextra to make it work.

Code: [Select]
http://security.debian.org/debian-security jessie/updates main

hi jason,

i've downloaded the last cut with this security repository in /opt/debextra, but nothing is updated.
do i need an additional action or entry to succeed?

thank you for your help.

Ok, it's working for me on my box, I will test some more later.

Are there any error messages regarding accessing the security repo?

Updating, reverting, and updating again are working as expected here.

What is the output of the below command?

Code: [Select]
ls /etc/sysconfig/tcedir/import/debs/iceweasel*

Ok, what happens if you just import iceweasel.  Does the newer deb get downloaded then?

hi jason,

that worked... just sce-import iceweasel downloaded the updated version.
after deleting the old icedove-version on my local drive the updated version in the security-repository was noticed and downloaded.
how could you interprete and improve this behavior.

thank you for your help and patience.

Ok, I will try and duplicate, my sce-update recognized the need for update whether updating or rolling back.  Of course, update simply means there is a different md5sum of packages available.

hi jason,

"sce-update -a -c" is so quiet for such a long time!
i have no specific hint to a package that should be upgraded, but i doubt that it can be so quiet.

did you have any update request in the last week?

thank you for your reply.
