C6 x86 chromium-browser locks up on print

C6 x86 chromium-browser.
CUPS installed and working.
Any attempt to print from browser causes a lockup.
I can switch between tabs, but there is no activity in any tab and new tabs cannot be opened.
Control panel popup pops up but nothing in it responds.
