libreoffice bloats panel with icons
« on: March 15, 2015, 05:36:37 AM »
hi friends,

after loading libreoffice the panel gets all icons of the mega-package, even java.
in my setup tcwbarconf doesn't work proberly for excluding icons in the panel.
i see only the chance to edit the config-files and backup them... but this is no pleasant solution :(

i guess that the icon for the "writer"-application is enough, because this program can be used for starting all other applications and i see there no need for the java-icon in the panel.

thank you for your help.

the tcwbarconf has problems to handle the libreoffice-icons,
i cannot exclude them from the panel.
others, f.e. the wifi-icon can be excluded without any problems.

There's really little overlap with dCore users and those who can edit the icon handling code, I'm afraid. I think dCore has different icon conversion code too.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

It appears that the title field in /usr/local/tce.icons needs to be one word and not multiple as is often found in .desktop files.  I can think of a couple ways to go about making it work.  Will test some things out tonight.

netnomad -  I think I have found a fix.  Please re-import wbar or whatever SCE contains it and test it out removing icons.

Oops, almost had it, re-uploaded and removing of icons with wbar_rm_icon now works at least on the command line.  I will try on X when I get to my box.

EDIT:  I have removed all icons and then re-added them with the graphical tc-wbarconf without a hitch.  Hopefully all is well now.

hi jason,

before tc-wbarconf was unusable for me, especially for libreoffice-icons, it just did not work.
now i can hide the unused icons.
if i backup /usr/local/tce.icons the changes are preserved.

by the way:
my menu in fluxbox shows in applications from time to time only a part of my loaded programs,
others are hided or missed :-(
should i backup /usr/local/tce.fluxbox, too?

thank you for your help and interest.

Something sounds wrong. Unused icons are listed in  tce/xwbar.lst.  If you mark an extension for deletion and reboot,
your backup of  /usr/local/tce.icons  will still contain entries for that extension.

hi rich,

thank you for your reply.
jason made just a good job in resolving this issue.
the backup of /usr/local/tce.icons is just counterproductive!

thank you for your advice.
