xvesa, resolutionen and monitor

ananix:
Hello, i have this problem that when i chose resolutions higher than 1024x768 it extends my desktop beyound the frames of my monitor.

My guess is it has another opinion on what monitor im using.

Anyone knows this issue and how to fix?

Maybe a driver or definition for xvesa?

gerald_clark:
You have not provided any information that could be used to help you.
Try Xorg and see what resolution you get.

ananix:
hmm sorry i saw it as kinda generic xvesa or resolution/monitor question.

I was gonna try and work a little with the -screen option for xvesa.

Im getting the right resolution, it just goes beyond my monitor instead of scaling it.

But it seems i actual got some information that could lead to something, 1024x768 is apparently 4x3 which is apparently max for xvesa the one i need 1440x900 is 16x19 so i think Xorg is the only way to go about this?

What other information would you think is relevant?

gerald_clark:
What would be relevant is the video hardware.  If it is Intel you might try 915resolution.tcz.
I use it for 1200x800 on my Dell laptop.

--- Code: ---Xvesa -listmodes
