INFO - ezremaster with alsa
« on: March 19, 2014, 11:59:28 AM »
To have a fast-ready to go system I had aimed to create a remaster where the extensions were extracted to initrd. Previous attempts to do this with alsa had been problematic (see http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php/topic,6645.msg64343.html#msg64343). I was updating the system to TC5.2 and, quite by accident, discovered that it was possible to extract alsa to initrd and to have the startup script executed in chroot, but only if alsa had already been installed on the system that was executing ezremaster. Perhaps there is something executed by the startup script that needs to be done in order for ezremaster to run the startup script in chroot? I am not knowledgeable enough on the commands in the startup script to understand what is going on. I don't know if this suggests any modifications for ezremaster that improve how some extensions are handled. In any case, this approach is one way that alsa can be remastered.
