pre-made Microcore VirtualBox appliances with folder sharing, any available?

Title pretty much says it. I'm trying to roll my own, but my progress is slow. Been dabbling with computers since long before the internet existed and I don't think I've ever tried anything that seemed at first to be so simple and proved to be so difficult. I just want a simple cli only VM with folder sharing with host working that I can run with VirtualBox on a Ubuntu Saucy host with a plain OpenBox DE.

Or if I can't get one for VirtualBox, I'd try one for some other VM manager, although VirtualBox is only one I have any experience with.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Folder sharing".  You cannot mount a device in both the host and a virtual machine.. 
You will have to use a network file system such as NFS if you wish to share a"Folder" among multiple machines.
