aterm latest update in tc-5 and cliorx compatibility issue
« on: September 11, 2013, 10:52:28 AM »
With the latest aterm update in tc-5.x repo (as of Sept 11 2013) applications which utilize cliorx will no longer start from the desktop menu or wbar.  For example Wifi.sh, but I have many shell scripts which start from the wbar and/or the desktop menu which use cliorx yet will no longer start in X.   While the app appears to be running somewhere in the background as indicated in TOP, I can't find a running terminal.  On occasion I have closed X with Ctrl + Alt + F1 and found the script running in text mode, but this is intermittent.

Installing the previous aterm.tcz (Aug 28 2013) restores cliorx functionality.

Right, cliorx is expecting /usr/local/bin/xterm while aterm creates /usr/bin/xterm to. A fast temporary fix

Quote
sudo ln -s /usr/bin/xterm /usr/local/bin/xterm

or to install lxterminal

The temporary symlink workaround works  :)

I saved the previous version so am using that in the meantime

Thanks heaps for lxterminal,
it is the easiest terminal especially if you prefer  change of fonts etc

offtopic
Am anxious to test LXDE when it arrives.
AFAIK there is no desktop icon WM/DE in RC, so it could seduce lots of testers to get in first?

Thanks again
