xvesa resolution number
« on: March 26, 2013, 04:52:59 PM »
Could someone please tell me the xvesa resolution number closest to 1366*768? When you run xvesa it ask for which number to enter for the resolution desired.

I've accidently set the resolution wrong, now the screen will still display grub but not tiny core when it boots. I want to press ctr+alt+t to bring up the terminal, type xvesa, enter, whatever resolution number I need and then enter again.

Hi Fog
Try using the boot code  text
When you get to the prompt, enter  xsetup
Then  startx  to see if the resolution is what you want

Is there a way to choose a custom resolution?

Hi Fog
I've never tried this myself, but you might have look at the  915resolution.tcz  extension.

I ended up booting into a resolution non native to the tv using boot codes xsetup startx, and taking resolution 1236(I don't remember this exact number)x768, it worked for some reason. Then I went into terminal and set the resolution back to native by typing in xvesa=1366x768x32.

Thanks, that startup code (xsetup startx) was essential.
