How do I get the Xserver to start?
« on: December 25, 2012, 07:01:52 AM »
Greetings.

I run the live cd to try it TC out. I have read http://distro.ibiblio.org/tinycorelinux/faq.html#xsetup but I cannot get it to work.

When I press F2 to get the bootcodes it says I should use plus or core. In does not say anything about "tinycore". So if I press ESC to bring up the boot command, type in core xsetup, it boots and I come to the terminal ("tinycore" is not an image or something; an error comes up when I use that instead of core).

"If you get a blinking cursor after the "Xauthority" lines, try hitting ctrl-C to get back to text prompt, then type xsetup.sh and try another screen resolution option.

From text prompt, type: startx"

I do not get any text prompt. What did I do wrong?

Problem was my cd-reader was using a SATA2 port; changing it to old SATA made it load everything properly.
