Java NetBeans IDE
« on: September 30, 2012, 01:29:30 PM »
Hi,

Would anyone have time to build a NetBeans package? I am taking a Java course for my AA degree and it would be real handy to make my dev environment.  My goal is to be able to work on my class during lunch at work.

i don't think it is best way to make it into an extension it just works out of bundle and it is very easy to install
tcz is a compressed read only file system if you run an application like netbeans in such conditions you will not be able to update or install any plugins

1) install jdk7 using java-installer.tcz
2) download netbeans java se bundle
3) run netbeans installer and install it somewhere on your hard drive

that's it

Hi Arslan,

Thanks!  I actually had tried something very similar before I posted, but of course it didn't work.  With your help I was able to get the JDK and Netbeans installed.  Here are steps I used:

1) install jdk7 using java-installer.tcz
2) reboot
3) add jdk and jre to OnLoad via Apps manager
4) download netbeans java se bundle
5) chmod -x the downloaded .sh file
6) run the netbeans installer
