abiword do not start
« on: July 15, 2012, 11:42:26 PM »
abiword do not start (how to run it ?)
I check all *.tcz from
http://distro.ibiblio.org/tinycorelinux/4.x/x86/tcz/abiword.tcz.dep
http://distro.ibiblio.org/tinycorelinux/4.x/x86/tcz/abiword.tcz.tree
and all the 35 md5 files are ok and
it says it need
libglade-2.0.so.0
missing but in libglade.tcz it is so I mount it and copy all of it and it is the same
what is wrong

and why TC456 do not boot from ntfs there are ntfs support in core.gz

and when I download 800MB of *.tcz and add all of it in dfg.lst not in onboot.lst
and boot with lst=dfg.lst it hang after twoo poges of extensions why ?

1. Use appsaudit to audit your extensions and dependencies.
2. ntfs is not supported in base - though if base will boot or not from ntfs may be a question of your boot loader.
3. Possibly running out of resources??

Well, you should not need to go to the ibiblio site and manually check the dep and tree files. Either use the size
tab in AppBrowser or use the ab command if you are running Microcore, that will tell you if you are missing any
dependencies. Why are you manually mounting libglade and where are you copying its contents to? It should be
mounted automatically when the abiword application is installed. Are you manually installing extensions and
their dependencies? If so, please use AppBrowser or ab instead.

Are you using any copy2fs files in your /tce directory to copy extensions into RAM? If so, maybe you don't have
enough RAM.

it is my mistake first I run abiword then when it do not start
I add missing extension and after this it still say it need file ...
so the reason is need 2 add all extensions and dep ... before first run it

the boot loader is syslinux and grub4dos v0.4.4 (stable) and 0.4.6alpha
and the kernel and initrd are loaded good
but after this no extensions are find in hdd so even startx do no start

out of resources - I think not the 800MB of *.tcz need less 2GB RAM
in copy2fs.lst is only 6 *.tcz so it only link all files
I find out the /mnt/*/tce/ondemand/ directory is guilty
I did thousands of items in it

Expectable when using unsupported filesystem.

I said "Possibly running out of resources??", not specifying RAM, but any resources limits which could be hit with such excessive usage.

Hi beroje
It looks like abiword may need an update, see:

for me abiword 2.6 starts well but through this problem you will forced to use command line
would be better to install abiword 2.8, especially since it requires not much more space than 2.6 with plugins
previously i was unable to compile abiword 2.9.2 but little later i'll try to make version 2.9.3 instead of 2.6
