IO errors on sector 0? Is the cd, the drive or the cable going bad?
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

Sorry.  Eyes still blurry before breakfast.
Can you boot from this CD?
Did you try different media?
Does the drive work with different live distros?
Core has used several different kernels.
What versions of Core have you tried?
4.5.4?
4.0?
3.x?

When the mount tool did not work for me I resorted to:
Code: [Select]
mkdir cd
sudo mount /dev/sr0 cd -t iso9660

P.S.  Also try bringing up the system without a CD in CDROM drive, if you haven't done this already.

Can you boot from this CD?
Did you try different media?
Does the drive work with different live distros?
4.5.4?
It boots from CD?
- not from a CD-RW 700MB with vectorlinux (mnttool dont appear at the screen when the CD is in when it starts; no eject possible)
- Not really from a knoppix CD. But it hangs up after 10s.
- Not really from a Multicore CD 4.2 (kernel seems to be loaded; but several errors during loading the extensions = error I/O, squashfs errors..).
4.5.4? yes.

I could access another CD (a non rewritable CD) with TCL4.2 on it (mnttool, fluff).
I could access another CD (a non rewritable CD) with knoppix on it (mnttool, fluff).
The rewritable CD with vectorlinux could be read on another PC (a dell) and booted it.

So my feeling is:
- the PC an TCL4.5.4 dont like the rewritable CD with vectorlinux on it: no boot and no read
- the PC could not boot from a standard CD till now (I booted all the time from the USB). Hardware issue?

I will open the box and move the harness. Perhaps a bad contact.
Or my CD reader is a bit strange with linux?

Hi floppy
Or maybe that CD reader doesn't like CD-RWs ?
