TinyCore PPC
« on: June 04, 2012, 05:43:34 PM »
What would it take to port TinyCore to PowerPC? There are still a lot of PPC Macs out there.

The question has been asked several times - it is possible, I'd suggest you use the cross linux from scratch instructions as a guideline.

You could also just download a virtual emulation environment like Bochs.  It was interesting to play with. :)

How are the emulator answers helpful at all?!? The whole point is to keep using older hardware with a lean system, such as TC or puppy. Running that under emulation on a PPC is missing the point completely...

And yes, the list of actively maintained PPC distros keeps shrinking...

We never were available for PPC, so how is that relevant?

Also, a bit late reply to this thread....
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

I think he was referring to learning lfs, not the use of tinycore

Hmm, I think I got that reply mixed up w/ another thread on PPC, where various distros were discussed.

As for the thread necromancy...well, I have no real excuse other than lack of sleep (6 month old kid). Then again, I just signed up yesterday, so I suppose the lack of a timemachine was a factor as well.  ;D
