remastered TC booting issue on specific machine
« on: December 21, 2011, 01:42:16 AM »
I posted my struggling with TC 4.2 RC's on my desktop in the related topics. For testing I created a remastered TC 4.0 CD with ezremaster-legacy adding only mc (midnight commander) as external onboot. Result is the same:

- boots correctly on notebook, mc.tcz added and works
- on desktop, TC starts and works fine, mc.tcz is not added.

WOW  sound like a headache..!   sorry for the struggle..

I'm currently using 15-20+ systems with various configurations of Tinycore, Core or core plus, and create at least one or more ezremastered ISO's each week that have to and do function 100%.

I sympathize with you and the aggravation you're going through.  If it were me, I'd be all working on finding the offending piece of hardware common to all the problems and ditch it.  Honestly I couldn't be dealing with a faulty ISO cd writer or whatever is the grief causing piece of hardware in your setup.

Good luck

Faulty CD writer? No. It works fine with Windows and TC 4.1 only 4.2rc's causing problem and remastered versions. What is common how CD is organized and boot procedure.

Also, it is not only valid for CD boot but for USB sticks also,

cd, just throwing it out there as it's often a cause of corruption and easy to overlook..

it's totally weird

I'm not using CD nor DVD, burned TC to CD 2 years ago as latest. I'm playing with 4.2rc on CD now to find why it doesn't boot from USB.
