I guess the next logical question is, do you get any error messages if you try to start it from a terminal?

I was try that after reading forums, but forget to write.  No output showed from terminal and no error messages.

Maybe it needs some command line parameters? If you type
k3b --help
you you get any output then?

I'm not familiar with k3b myself, but as I said, maybe it requires some command line parameters.
The help may provide some clues, possibly you have to tell it where to find your CD drive?

k3b should run when you just run the command "k3b"

since k3b depends on kde4 runtime you may need Xorg running

Thank you for all replies.  The problem was solved in two steps:
1) Loading kdegraphics.tcz
2) Running K3B as root.


But there are additional problems:
- running K3B as root does not allow to run growisofs.

Anyone can solve this?
