* Updated tc-config new boot code pretce for raid and lvm support.
* Updated tc-config dropped default TZ=UTC as such default (UTC) is embedded with no need to set TCZ.

* Updated tc-config for microcore without X.
* Updated tce-setdrive improved error handling.
* Updated tc-terminal-server for new kernel.
* Updated ab fixed OnDemand bug.
* Updated mnttool added -g option for user defined initial position when used in .xsession.
* Updated appbrowser improved screen dispay handling.

I get floating point exceptions using the new Xlibs.tcz.
I re-installed the one from rc2.

The only change from 4.1rc2 to 4.1 concerning Xlibs is that Xlibs contained two binaries and one font, all of which are not libraries and where therefore moved to their proper locations.
* /usr/bin/imlib2_conv and /usr/bin/imlib2_grab binaries were moved to Xprogs.tcz
* /usr/share/fonts/luxisr.ttf, a font file only used by wbar was moved to wbar.tcz

I suspect the issue is with the luxisr font.
Have you upgraded both Xprogs and wbar? Are you trying to use luxisr font without wbar?

This issue should not apply to Tiny Core as all discussed components remain in the initrd of Tiny Core.

The above refactoring is the result of trying to improve microcore and free any entanglements with tinycore or other extensions, i.e., wbar.

I am not using wbar.
I am using icewm.

The numbers for the windows are missing and all menus are blank.
When attempting to run xchat2 I get:

tc@laptop:~$ tce-load -i xchat2
xchat2.tcz: OK
tc@laptop:~$ xchat

(xchat:4458): Pango-WARNING **: failed to choose a font, expect ugly output. engine-type='PangoRenderFc', script='common'

(xchat:4458): Pango-WARNING **: failed to choose a font, expect ugly output. engine-type='PangoRenderFc', script='latin'
Floating point exception
tc@laptop:~$

Installing the unwanted wbar fixes the problem.
So does building and installing luxisr.tcz.

Thanks, as suspected a microcore sans wbar issue with temporary work-a-round of loading wbar.tcz together with the noicons boot option.  Likely best solution going forward is having a luxisr.tcz extension.

luxisr.ttf can also be found in Xorg-fonts.
I am loading that now.

hi friends,

after all preparations for an upgrade like in appsaudit f.e. updated dep-list and database, checked md5sums,
checked tcz-updates, backups and so on
i experienced also some problems with Xlibs:

appsaudit isn't able to update it.
the cli gives an error message in the same direction.
the appbrowser can't download or reinstall it, too.

but nevertheless with the Xlibs of 4.1rc2 everything works smooth and fine.

hi rich,

sorry, it's not so easy to reproduce all details in the moment,
as you know, my Xlibs.4.1rc2 is not so easy to unload... while i use it.
the reported cli-error told me that the package could not be downloaded,
so i downloaded the package over the ftp-server with the help of my internet-browser...
but this manually downloaded Xlibs-package wasn't able to startx,
and reported the error message that this Xlibs.4.1 couldn't be mounted in /tmp/tcloop...

OK. I am backing off the change to Xlibs for now. I will address as part of the planned changes for 4,2.
Therefore I have restored the Xlibs.tcz from 4.1rc2 and is now available in the repository.

You should be able to use Apps Audit and select Check for Updates.

Note: Xlibs.tcz is only needed for those using microcore!

Since there's a small selection of default bitmap fonts in Xlibs, IMHO it would make sense to keep luxisr in Xlibs. Then X apps that need a truetype font would still have a default to fall back on, just like older ones that use the bitmap fonts.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

http://distro.ibiblio.org/tinycorelinux/ still reads "The latest version: 4.0.2" but the News iframe is up to date.
