Hi cast-fish
Quote
You see Puppy shows what you would expect in performance increase on
the compaq....... Yet TCL goes the other way in performance. The tcl performance de-grades on the compaq.
Checking which modules are loaded when booting Puppy versus Tinycore may provide some insight.

Oh, smbus. Not having only means you can't read some sensors, no performance effect.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

Ye Curaga....and others

strangely, yesterday evening, the compaq really improved in performance with Puppy...that is
when everything was on a hard drive...(Puppy was already pretty ok.....)

so perhaps installing tcl will help?....(there is no doubt about the improvement last night...it was
noticeable...hard drive reading was totally smooth....like the laptop had been overhauled or something?)

it was strange...

i will try installing tcl and see what happens...

but i am of *no doubt* what-so-ever about my original ideas....indeed this compaq is a quik
machine compared to other laptops here......it *should* be performing much better
with tcl than it is...

this compaq has a faster chip...yesterday evening prooved this beyond any doubt...
it was real quik and smooth....(don't know how
......but it just was)

i will try installing tcl...
