Hello,
I am using this boot code because it seems to make my old machine quicker.
- MC 4.0 with Xorg7.4 and
- all other apps for making this MC looking like the TC4.0
- boot code line is "kernel /boot/vmlinuz blacklist=snd_usb_audio quiet floppy=0,irq vga=789 tz=CET-1CEST,M3.5.0,M10.5.0/3 pci=use_crs noisapnp noscsi nozswap pnpbios=off home=sdc3 mydata=mcactdat tce=sda2 lst=microorg.lst ide_core.ignore_cable=0 cgroup_disable=memory ide_core.ignore_cable=1"
Not a big issue; simply an error message comes up at boot.
It seems my space shuttle PC comes down from 49s with 3.8.4 (GRUB start till Wallpaper on the screen) to 44s with 4.0. and playing around with few boot codes MC4.0 IS GOOD FOR YOU.

Update: solved with mc 4.0.1. Thanks Robert.

I doubt nozswap has anything to do with it.
You have several other boot options that do affect the hardware interface.

I tried again..
boot code nozswap away = no error message (and boot time much higher: +16s).
So, there is a relation (with my PC).

Hi floppy
I don't think those   ide_core   boot codes do anything anymore since the switch to libata.

nozswap has nothing to do with hwclock.
It just skips setting up zswap.

There is a timing fix for hwclock coming in the next release.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.
