Tiny Core Extensions > TCE Talk
needless downloading of extensions.
cast-fish:
Hello,
Please can you tell me how i can prevent needless downloading of
extensions.
I already have a folder on storage that is filled with tcl extensions.
They were gathered by selecting only the "download" option in the
apps browser.
How do i re-install these stored extensions into a virgin tcl
and have persistence with them?
Does it mean copying them over to the tce directory one by one
and all the dependancies also?
thanks
V.
curaga:
The easiest way is to copy the entire tce folder, that way you can be sure all deps come along.
cast-fish:
Hello
ok thanks
i never realized how this OS works. The extension files are all .tcz files regardless of if they are
dependancy files or a core app files.
It seems to be real logical. Real easy.
Unlike other linux distros which are real complex with file structures

Hello
i am not sure what happened here.
See my first post.
I don't understand your reply "the easiest way is to copy the entire tce folder" copy it to where?
I had a folder here that was filled with .tcz extension files. I had got these
by selecting the "download only" option in tcl.
All i wanted to do was know how to have persistence across boots for whichever of those extensions i chose to manually load during a tcl session.
(e.g Audacity)
I figured your reply meant...copy that entire folder of .tcz files over into the
tce directory.
I actually did this, but copied them to the "optional" directory inside the
tce folder.....is that right?
Basically, stuff does not work right now. Things don't load right
and it's a mess.

Guy:
You need to put Apps (not dependencies) in On Boot or On Demand using Apps Audit, then reboot.
Yes, the /tce/optional directory is correct.
