Title: TC rookie questions
Post by: helpersnx on December 25, 2010, 05:01:05 AM
I started TC last weekend, got it run on Vmware . Nice.
I want to run the 64 machine type . The microcore64 is running, but it is only commandline....
How can get the 64  - TC - look and feel of the standard 32 tinycore with the minimal window manager.
I tried to go from the live CD- iso. There is no real how to what to do.

TIA

I don't believe Xvesa will work with 64-bit microcore, but you can download Xprogs and Xlibs from here: http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/tinycorelinux/3.x/release/microcore/ (http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/tinycorelinux/3.x/release/microcore/)

..and copy them to your /tce folder where they will be automatically loaded at boot.

You'll also need the Xorg-7.5 (and deps), flwm and wbar extensions to be loaded "onboot" and then you should be good to go.

[just brought my laptop out of suspend to post this and was most impressed that the wifi restarted itself unaided..]
