The Second Release Candidate of v3.3 (tinycore_3.3rc2.iso), is now posted and ready for testing.

* New FLTK integrated file manager, mfm, file associations, i.e, double click to edit/run directly from file manager.
* New FLTK minimal editor, on System Tools menu, and called via File Manager configurable file associations.
* New tce-run - load and run tcz, e.g., tce-run xmms, This is the association to run .tcz directly from file manager.
* Updated tce-audit to support default pathing and ext (.tcz) greatly improves CLI usage.

I have installed Tinycore_v3.3rc2. Have not used it very long yet.
I like the idea of having a file manager and text editor in the base. Anything which makes it easier for new users is an improvement.
Question: How do you run the file manager and text editor as root?
With most other file managers there is an up arrow to go up a directory. With this file manager, you need to click Change dir then Parent dir. I find this annoying, particularly when I go up more than one directory.
These are very early observations. I may notice other things as I use it more.

Answer: From RunProgram enter "sudo mfm"
As to going up one directory, use the hot key ALT-U as the dropdown menu shows.

It would be great to have extra buttons on mfm for common tasks, especialli up dir and previous dir.

Using it a bit longer, I noticed you can not cut and paste, or copy and paste, with the file manager. This is one of the main things I do with a file manager. Or have I missed something.

You can simply double click on the menu title Change dir or as stated Alt+U to move up a directory.

This must be Windows parlance? The equivalent to extra, needless, disk activity. I believe such was because most Windows users started with a word processor. Not very efficient.
This tiny file manger does offer drag-n-drop:
Use New option to open a second window. Navigate to desired location.
Select file and then right-click-hold drag to target, second, window and then release. A small menu appears with choice of copy, move, link soft, or link hard.
But the bottom line is...
Just as with default window manager, flwm_topside, you don't have to use the default file manager, mfm. You can always use what ever file manager extension you were using.

FYI. I use release candidates to have the community test new code, new concepts, new ideas.
Anything and everything in a release candidate can change and may or may not make to final release.
Such is brewing with the next release candidate.
