Title: Cannot connect the appbrowser to the internet on Virtual Box
Post by: leifanator on October 11, 2010, 08:58:29 PM
I am running tinycore linux on virtualbox which is simulating an i686.  I have a virtualbox host only network running for the simulation, but when I try to connect appbrowser to the internet, the message box: Connection Error, check network, or mirror  Appears.  What's wrong?

Have you read the VBox manual re. host-only networking and do you understand what that means?

There is a very good reason why NAT networking is the default. I bet if you'd change to that networking mode you will find that you can access external hosts (e.g. a TC mirror). With your current setting I'm afraid you'll have to attempt to circumvent the entire setup (i.e. separation from the external "world") to achieve the same. It might even be not possible at all, but it would be at least fairly difficult. Do you actually have a reason for using host-only networking?

Ah! Thank you.  It worked.  I was using a host only network because in the past, NAT wasn't working, so I switched to host only, and it worked after that.  It must have been a glitch with virtualbox, because that doesn't make sense, ya know?
