Title: [SUGGESTION] Add a "suggest package section" to tcz.info files
Post by: aus9 on April 27, 2010, 04:27:32 PM
hi

In some other distros, when you attempt to search or download a package, the maintainer also has a "suggest" package information area.

The suggestion may be to enhance your current download..........or it could be something that is unrelated but often needed.

Due to the Tinyiness of TC .....this is a suggestion only......The user is not forced to accept it, as it is not  a dependency.

------------------

(example)
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/tinycorelinux/2.x/tcz/abiword-plugins.tcz.info

The page would include a Suggest section

and name various font packages

------------------------------
PS Each  maintainer can leave it blank......
The maintainer can offer "unrelated" packages
eg....abiword could suggest gnumeric
------------------------------------------------------------

I realise that as a TC newbie......will not earn much respect......but I can only try ....ok ....heh heh.

regards

gordy

A good suggestion is a good suggestion, even if it comes from a newbie.

However, some newbies (not you) show they have a poor understanding of Tiny Core by their suggestions.

I think it is a good idea.

However, extensions are made and maintained by many different people.

Some may take up this idea. Others may not.

Do not arbitrarily add fields unless the standard reflects such a change.  Inserting something within the comments section is acceptable though.

hi ^thehatsrule^

So me thinks that is one vote for and one against having a new field set in the info file?
