what do you think about plugcomputers? tc/mc seem to fit extremly well with the concept. has anybody experience in plugcomputing?

as an example: SheevaPlug, TonidoPlug

Those are ARM processors, not i386.

Which just means you'd need to take the time to recompile for the kernel for ARM. I think a TinyCore for ARM would be a good idea moving forward, if this whole "Netbooks must have ARM processors!" thing kicks off.

Well, they already come with Linux, so you should be able to just start compiling.

thanks for the feed back; my idea was to install tc/mc on it in order to have one ultra-portable computer that you can plug everywhere, but i didn't realize that it was not a x86 cpu

TonidoPlug is a customized SheevaPlug running Tonido applications. It is $99, same as SheevaPlug DEV KIT US version, UK/EU is few bucks more.

here is a nice review at dw on the sheeva plug:

it would be definitely amazing to have tc/mc for the ARM architecture, it would enable much more usages of such a computer (not only as server, but also as workstation and portable pc)

I'm seriously thinking on to buy a SheevaPlug Dev Kit. It looks interesting toy, the only negative point found till now it is missing a floating point unit.

i think i saw a same observation as yours in the comments of the distrowatch article mentioned above, but redactors said that the sheeva plug has a floating point... you probably have to check again

Doesn't matter, I have ideas how and where to use it. Decision made, I will order it :)
