Title: simple-scan assertion (12.0 corepure64)
Post by: netsocket on May 20, 2021, 12:13:37 PM
I've been running 12.0 corepure64. A fresh installation of simple-scan.tgz aborts with the diagnostic "dbus[8553]: arguments to dbus_connection_send() were incorrect, assertion "connection != NULL" failed in file dbus-connection.c line 3307,".

simple-scan finds the scanner and begins a scan, but aborts before completing the page.

The last time I tested the simple-scan extension it worked - I was using an hp officejet with hplip, what scanner are you using?

HP envy 4300 mfp. It worked in an earlier release. Since the assertion is in dbus code I was wondering if maybe it's something misconfigured.

Sorry, typo: should have been HP Envy 4500.

Works now. I needed to go to the control panel to actually activate the dbus service. I had seen dbus-launch and debus-daemon procs listed under ps ax, so i assumed it was started, but it turns out not.
Hope you didn't spend time chasing this, and thanks for the reply.
