Post by: marcelocripe on March 18, 2020, 12:01:44 PM

Desde já agradeço a quem puder me ajudar.

Muito obrigado.

Subject: How to install extensions and updates on Tiny Core Plus on a computer without internet access?

Good afternoon everyone.

I bring my need and I hope I can count on the support of colleagues.

I managed to install on Tiny Core Plus Linux 11.0, now I need to install extensions (application programs) on computers without access to the internet, that is, offline.

After installing Tiny Core Plus I will need to do the installation in the following sequence (for novice users): antivirus (is an antivirus required on Tiny Core Linux?), File manager (as simple as possible and that consumes as little memory or processing as possible ), internet browsers with HTML 5 support (Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera or whatever is the best option for Tiny Core), player codec to watch video or listen to music - in the same program, program to burn CD / DVD , office package and video game emulator.

As well as, for advanced users, extensions (application programs): audio editor, video editor, image editor, audio or video extractor to mp3, audio / video format converter / compactor, download manager; video game emulator, Windows game emulator to run on Linux, computer games and etc.

The entire installation must take place without access to the internet, afterwards the user may or may not have access to the internet, depending on the economic reality of each individual.

I already thank anyone who can help me.

Thank you.

If you are going to perform the entire installation without an internet connection, you will need to remaster the CorePlus iso to add the additional applications you require.

Please keep in mind that TC does not do miracles.

Ie. current Firefox with Youtube/Facebook may require 2 GHz and 1 GB RAM.
Playing xvid movies may require 800 MHz.
Wine games are heavy.

Running those things on TC will not make a weak computer able to do them. A Pentium 2 with 256 MB RAM will not do those things even with TC.

Bom dia Juanito e curaga.

Good morning Juanito and curaga.

Thank you for answering my question.

Curaga, as for the hardware I will manage in some cases to reach up to 1 GB of RAM DDR 1 with some computers that have Cerelon (R) processor of the same generation as Pentium 4. Firefox (firefox-ESR.tcz) would be the best browser for use on Youtube / Facebook regarding performance? Or would another browser serve you better by requiring less processing or memory?

Juanito, could you point me out or provide a detailed tutorial, can be by command line or in graphical mode to remaster ISOs from Tiny Core Plus. The version I downloaded was CorePlus (106 MB) from the link: http://tinycorelinux.net/11.x/x86/release/CorePlus-current.iso. I being able to prepare specific Tiny Core Plus ISOs that best suit each hardware configuration, somehow I will be able to make computers that are useless will have some use and be reused. It is better to reuse technology instead of throwing it in the trash. The planet cannot take so much waste anymore.

As far as I was able to progress in the tests I did with Tiny Core Plus, I am sure that the "miracle" has already been done by you, for having created an operating system that uses little memory and requires little processing, when compared to other operating systems, the way is Tiny Core.

Because you have specialized technical knowledge, because you are close to the development of Tiny Core, especially Tiny Core Plus and its extensions, could you please help me by identifying the name or filename ".tcz" of the extensions that require less processing or memory for each purpose?

File manager or browser
Internet browser: Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera or other? What is the best option for Tiny Core
Player codec for watching videos or listening to music - in the same program
Program to burn CD / DVD
Office package
Game emulator
Windows game emulator to play on Linux

Can I continue publishing the original text in Portuguese and another translated by Google translator? If not, in which language should I send it?

Thank you.

You can use the ezremaster extension to add extensions to CorePlus

In terms of small efficient extensions, I would suggest:

file manager: emelfm
text editor: beaver
browser: fifth (not yet available in 11.x)
cd burner: flburn

Juanito,

Poderia me indicar tutoriais completos?

Juanito,

Without the help I need it will be difficult to use Tiny Core Plus 11.0.

Could you point me to complete tutorials?

The few answers are very succinct, I realized that several questions were not answered, both the questions of other colleagues in this forum and my questions.

I managed to download several extensions at the link: https://distro.ibiblio.org/tinycorelinux/11.x/x86/tcz/, the files I downloaded are similar to these: flburn.tcz, flburn.tcz.dep and flburn. tcz.md5.txt. Do you need any other files to compose the extension? Are these files (flburn.tcz.tree and flburn.tcz.zsync) necessary?

I have ISO Core Plus 11.0, how can I prepare an ISO with the built-in extensions to be installed together with Tiny Core?

I tried to do some tests, but they were all unsuccessful.

1st Test - Using Core2usb I prepared the bootable pendrive with the image CorePlus-current.iso, created a directory or folder at the root of the pendrive with the name cde and copied the flburn.tcz, flburn.tcz.dep and flburn extensions to this folder .tcz.md5.txt, I did the same for other extensions. In Tiny Core graphical mode, I started the installation with "tc-install", on the last screen after clicking "Proceed", the HD formatted, there was an error after the installation started.

2nd Test - Using Core2usb I prepared the bootable pendrive with the image CorePlus-current.iso, copied the extensions flburn.tcz, flburn.tcz.dep and flburn.tcz.md5.txt to this tce / optional folder, I did the same for other extensions. In Tiny Core graphical mode, I started the installation with "tc-install", on the last screen after clicking "Proceed", the HD formatted, there was an error after the installation started.

3rd Test - Using Core2usb to prepare the pendrive, I realized that the graphic mode of Tiny Core was not loaded several times after selecting the "Boot Core - Plus with default FLWM topside", I decided to do the two tests above using the UNetbootin program to prepare the pendrive, but both were unsuccessful, the installation was completed successfully and after restarting the computer, the Tiny Core graphics mode did not load, it only loaded the Tiny Core text mode.

Please help me, I need a tutorial to embed the extensions in the ISO or the USB stick so that I can install Tiny Core Plus on computers without internet access.

Thank you for your attention.

You can read the tinycore book here: http://www.tinycorelinux.net/book.html

If you can boot the CorePlus iso, you can use the tc-install-GUI extension to install tinycore to a usb stick. Note that the usb stick will be formatted for you, there is no need to use other tools first.

You can also use the ezremaster extension to add extensions to a tinycore iso

For an extension to work, only the *tcz, *.tcz.dep and *tcz.md5.txt files are necessary, but it is better to use tinycore's built-in tools to download and load extensions.

Juanito,

After installing Tiny Core Plus 11.0 32 bit on a computer without internet access, I was able to copy and paste the necessary extensions and dependencies that I downloaded on the computer with internet access to the computer without internet access, put the extensions and dependencies required in the optional folder of the path / mnt / sda1 / tce / optional.

In the example I describe, I tried to install the emelfm.tcz extension without internet access, so I put all the files listed below in the tc @ box folder: / mnt / sda1 / tce / optional $:
-emelfm.tcz;
-emelfm.tcz.dep;
-emelfm.tcz.md5.txt;
-glib1.tcz;
-glib1.tcz.md5.txt;
-gtk1.tcz;
-gtk1.tcz.dep
-gtk1.tcz.md5.txt

How do I make Tiny Core Plus 11.0 32-bit "see" the emelfm.tcz extension and run the file manager?

I thank you for always answering my questions and for helping me.

Thanks.

Juanito,

-emelfm.tcz;
-emelfm.tcz.dep;
-emelfm.tcz.md5.txt;
-glib1.tcz;
-glib1.tcz.md5.txt;
-gtk1.tcz;
-gtk1.tcz.dep
-gtk1.tcz.md5.txt

Obrigado.
