Title: Installation of TinyCorePure64
Post by: charity on March 05, 2019, 03:10:09 AM
Hello, I'm newbie, (sorry about my English):
. I want to install TinyCorePure64-current.iso (http://www.tinycorelinux.net/10.x/x86_64/release/ (http://www.tinycorelinux.net/10.x/x86_64/release/)),
I just downloaded tc-install and then installed it like CorePlus (http://tinycorelinux.net/install.html (http://tinycorelinux.net/install.html))?

Yes, you should be able to install TinyCorePure64 using tc-install from the CorePlus iso

Yes, you should be able to install TinyCorePure64 using tc-install from the CorePlus iso
Thank you,
But I have just read these articles (http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php?topic=21038.0 (http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php?topic=21038.0)), they said they have to install:
Quote
CorePure64 uses
 vmlinuz64 + corepure64.gz
Or
 vmlinuz64 + rootfs64.gz + modules64.gz
which you can download here: http://tinycorelinux.net/8.x/x86_64/release/distribution_files/ (http://tinycorelinux.net/8.x/x86_64/release/distribution_files/)

Note that you could also use
 vmlinuz64 + rootfs.gz + modules64.gz
which you can download here: http://tinycorelinux.net/8.x/x86/release/distribution_files/ (http://tinycorelinux.net/8.x/x86/release/distribution_files/)
to have a 64-bit kernel + modules but still be able to access the 32-bit repo, which may contain more apps.
Quote
While it's generally a straight swap of vmlinuz and core.gz for their pure 64 bit counterparts (vmlinuz64 + corepure64.gz).
Note: corepure64 requires a dedicated tce directory...
This article: (http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php?topic=20698.0 (http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php?topic=20698.0))

Note: Extensions for a corepure64 (64 bit kernel and 64 bit user-space applications) installation requires a dedicated tce extensions directory, especially if co-located on a drive alongside a 32bit tinycore or tinycore64 installations.  It's repository is separate from the x86 and x86_64 (tinycore 32bit kernel and 32bit user-space applications & tinycore64 64 bit kernel and 32 bit user-space applications) combined repo.
What is it, is it necessary?
Thanks again.;D

Is it necessary? If not, don't hesitate to answer me so I can install it this way:

Hello

Ok but what exactly is the problem?

There's so many ways to skin this cat...

Maybe you could review the steps in this guide http://wiki.tinycorelinux.net/wiki:install_usb_stepbystep   "Option 1"

Then simply substitute the tinycore/coreplus ISO with corepure64 ISO where necessary to ensure x86_64 compatibility??

Have you mentioned what type of media you're attempting to install too?  USB thumb drive? HDD?   dedicated drive or separate partition?

Basically you need only 4 steps,

As previously mention you could use tc-install   making sure you use corepure64 current ISO

Do I need to install vmlinux, core.gz?
Because I just saw this article:http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php/topic,21038.0.html (http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php/topic,21038.0.html)

1. For a pure 64bit installation you need only
vmlinuz64 + corepure64.gz
Or
vmlinuz64 + rootfs64.gz + modules64.gz

2. You would use vmlinux and core.gz on a 32 bit installation only

Is it necessary? If not, don't hesitate to answer me so I can install it this way:

From these two posts I'm going to assume you've successfully installed corepure64
