Hello TinyCore,
Happily installed TC 8.0 to the hard drive on a desktop machine.
The first main issue is that I lose the mouse frequently. At times, the mouse cursor will just hang for many seconds, even 5 or 10 or 15 seconds, and then will start to respond.
Or at other times, it is lost and no amount of wait will bring it back. I need to exit X (Ctrl-Alt-Backspace ) and restart X or reboot to get the mouse back.
Either one of the above problems seems to happen whenever I use the mouse to launch or use an app.
The mouse is a two-button (with wheel) USB mouse. I have
waitusb=5
in my bootcodes, but since it responds initially after startup, I am not sure if that is helpful or needed.
Any advice?
Thank you for your time and feedback.

Hi joespr
I tend to run wired mice though I hear all the cool kids are using wireless these days. I did once have a wireless mouse
start to act goofy when the battery started to become marginal. The other thing that comes to mind is interference on
that frequency.

Sorry if I gave the impression this was a wireless mouse, it is not. It is a wired USB mouse.

Hi joespr
No, you didn't give that impression, I just presumed. Last time I went to buy a mouse the vast majority of the offerings
were wireless.
-
I'd try another mouse, because mice issue rarely originate from software.

OK, here is the end of the story.
I tried a different mouse (found a PS2 mouse in the boneyard), but got the same result.
So I gave up on this PC, and dragged another PC, but slightly newer, out of said boneyard.
Installing TC now on this second PC, reusing the original USB wired mouse without problem.
The End.

Hi joespr,
several years ago I had similar issues to get my mouse running on a very old
PC. For me it helped to play a little bit with the boot-codes.
