Forget the $9 computer, there is $5 Linux machine:

I'm curious whic Linux they will ship for such low hw resources.

It looks like they are supporting OpenWRT (a fork of Buildroot) based on their github: https://github.com/OnionIoT/OpenWRT-Packages

But you need more than the Omega, for easy to connect to it. Some type of motherboard to stack the Omega within.
So $4 will not be the end prize.
