Hi Jason & the others
Is it "hand made" or do you have some automated "secret" scripts to build dCore from debian/ubuntu?
From which debian/ubuntu image or installation do you start?
PS. How is Robert health?
-
Don't know if I will understand the answer, but good question.
PS: Hoping the best.

We last heard from Robert two weeks ago, but whether to share any details is up to him.
-
On dCore, basically I individually review the file differences between a Debian or Ubuntu release and an existing dCore and copy over any needed file updates to make the base image library compatible with that particular release.
-
I use a hard drive install of the Debian/Ubuntu target release, and by the time I have rox-filer, icewm, leafpad, and other favorite apps all the packages I need are installed and I pull from that install for the dCore-*.gz image.
-
Hi. You mean you make your personal dcore automatically with the apps you mentioned starting from a debian standard install?
-
No, I just install Debian/Ubuntu and install my favorite apps on that HD install. Then copy over the needed binaries and files to a dCore*.gz.
-
So I should be able to use debootstrap to make a base chroot to work from, then copy dCore over it? Or is there something else involved?
-
That is pretty much it, copying files to a base file system. Along with the custom dCore files.
