This is after the fact, as best as I can recall  :(

Under TC 6, used java-installer extension to download and create extensions for latest Java jdk/jre 7. When attempting to start Java it failed. When starting in a terminal Java gave error message about missing libXtst library. Downloaded the libXtst extension and Java started successfully.
