Title: Problem installing on HDD
Post by: Dasein on October 05, 2014, 07:54:30 AM
Hi. Sorry if this is the wrong sub-forum to ask, if so, excuse me and move it where it belongs.

The problem I have is that I'm trying installing CorePlus on an old machine (P4GE-Mx mobo with Celeron cpu and 128 mb of ram) and failing to do so. I've tried partitioning with gfdisk and then the tc-installer, I setup Frugal and mark the options "install boot loader" and "make device bootable" (or something) and installing goes well after saying it installed extlinux. But when I try to boot from the HDD I get the DISK BOOT FAILURE error. I suppose it's because I haven't installed a bootloader (albeit the tc-installer said to do so) but really I'm lost here. Anyone can help? Thanks in advance.

Jon.

Forgot to say I'm trying to do this from a USB stick made with LiLi USB Creator.

Don't use unsupported USB boot managers.
Just dd itb coreplus ISO directly to the USB stick, not a partition on the USB stic.
Boot the USBdrive, run the installer.  Do a frugal install to the whole hard disk.
Have it install the boot loader and make the drive bootable.

Instructions ar in the book: http://tinycorelinux.net/book.html

Hi. Thanks Gerald, I've already solved it, it was a silly mistake (just not setting up the HD on the BIOS well), now I have it running, but with another problem. When I was using the live usb sometimes it hanged when I wanted to start the WiFi scan app (the one included), and now it hangs everytime I click on it (booting from the HD).

Tried again a didn't hanged up, working fine. Sometimes hangs, sometimes don't, what could be the cause? I'm using a pci wifi card.
