Title: Tinycore 3.8.4 - ALSA doesn't see more than 8 soundcards.
Post by: manmasel on February 01, 2013, 03:11:11 AM
Hi,
I don't know if is really a bug or a wrong setting but I have this problem:
I have an embedded machine with connected 9 soundcards (1 is on board and 8 are USB cards). The problem is that the sistem (I have installed ALSA.TCZ) doesn't see more than 8 cards. If I try to load all the 9 cards, I receive the message:

cannot find the slot for index -1 range 0-7, error -19
  cannot create card instance 7

I have tried to recompile Kernel with the option  SND_DYNAMIC_MINORS  enabled (by default is disabled), but without success.

If I try this operation in a Debian Machine (same Kernel version , same ALSA version), I see all 9 cards without error.

Can someone help me?.

Best regards.

I'm sorry I'm not familiar with solving this issue but it may be worthwhile for you to mention why you're not using 4.7.4.  Is there some incompatibility that should be addressed for the next release?

Hi manmasel
Are you using alsa-oss.tcz? Maybe this is related?
