Title: (closed) "brasero" dont start with last tcl; the error libgnutls.so ...
Post by: floppy on June 09, 2012, 06:39:28 AM
"No such file or directory" appear.
It seems the gnutls2.tcz dep is missing.
update: the libiconv.tcz dep is missing, too.

by starting brasero, new few errors are there:
a) it dont find the cd in the writer
b) error 5479 "..failed to open /usr/local/share/brasero/logo.png..."
c) error5479 "..failed to vreate file /home/tc/.local/share/.."
see messages in http://imagebin.org/218762
any idea what happens?
Title: Basic: howto use BRASERO?
Post by: floppy on July 05, 2012, 12:42:28 PM
I was trying to use brasero on a DELL.
I have a similar issue than here.
a) a new CD is in the box, mnttool see the sr0 (color red)
b) Brasero starts
c) I click on "iso burn", but the CD is not seen = the CD device is not suggested in the menue
What happens here?
Can somebody use brasero on 4.5.5 and burn CDs? or I am missing something? (till now, I burned all my CDs on my wife ASUS laptop K51AE ubuntu 10.04). This is my first try with Core and brasero.

Or, perhaps brasero cannot be used because this is not a writer?

dmesg says for hp dc7100
[    0.645340] scsi 0:0:0:0: CD-ROM            COMPAQ   CD-ROM CRN-8245B 1.16 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5
[    0.647714] sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 24x/24x cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray
[    0.647718] cdrom: Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20
[    0.647833] sr 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0
[    0.647911] sr 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg0 type 5

perhaps this is a readonly "COMPAQ CD-ROM"?
I am a bit lost how to analyse the specs.

Googling for   CRN-8245B   would have told you that.

sorry.. sorry.. I could not understand the googling.
So, now its clear why I cannot use brasero.
So, I will search now a witer for my hp DC7100 UltraSlim and probably make an upgrade.
I close that topic.

Hi floppy
If the specs give a read speed, but not a write speed, the device is read-only.
Also, here are the dmesg lines for my two drives, sr0 is read-only, and sr1 is write capable:
Quote
sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 48x/48x cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray
sr1: scsi3-mmc drive: 32x/32x writer cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray
