Title: VIA announces Pi competitor
Post by: curaga on May 22, 2012, 09:17:45 AM
http://www.reghardware.com/2012/05/22/chip_maker_via_outs_49_dollar_raspberry_pi_alike/

It's using the WM8750, and beats the Pi in about everything but price ;) Though the cpu is only slightly better, it has 512mb RAM, comes with VGA output too, etc.

Also seems to fit to a Mini-ITX chassis.

From the image seems the power is not usb (like raspberry), it could be a disadvantage?
And the value of power absorpiont?
I think it remains to be seen how it will end.

This looks interesting computer for the price

It does not connect to "google play" for installing apps but any 3rd party app can be installed
once you have the file. Maybe it will ship with some free 3rd party marketplace's set up.

It has audio in which is handy for thousands of android apps that can take audio in and mainly
need it "skype

4 usb ports, Vga port and also comes with the power supply brick. 512 ram. Can do 720p hi def video.

The HDMI also puts out stereo audio at high quality. It has flash compatibility and html5
