Title: PCI USB Controllers and Tiny Core?
Post by: KingBongo on February 25, 2012, 07:22:32 AM
Hi. I have a rather unusual question I think.

I am sick and tired of burning a CD each and every time I want to put some music onto the old bastard (Pentium I with TC 3.5). Does Tiny Core support PCI USB Controllers so I can start using USB sticks instead? What about mounting? Does the regular "mounting tool" support USB devices?

Yes to all three.

Though setting up networking would be nicer than shuffling usb sticks, IMHO :)
PCI ethernet cards should also be cheaper than usb ones.

Yes, I agree, but the closest network is far away :P

Thank you! I will buy one of those crazy cheap PCI USB controllers available on ebay. Do you recommend any particular chipset?

How about VIA chipsets? They seem to be a little bit cheaper still.

The VIA controller cards are OK off ebay...used them many many times...

it' s also USB 2.0 that they give your machine....over 5 ports....there is an extra PORT
actually on the roof of the card....that is fully usable
