The "Awesome Window Manager" seems very interesting...

It IS very interesting. And it is scriptable in Lua!

It's also fast and stable.  And the only tiling manager to date completely converted from xlib to xcb.  If Awesome goes repo I can put off the learning curve (it's gonna be a long, long time... so maybe someone else might do it) for learning compiling a little longer.  At the same time I think really it's a keeper so... if the only game in town is postiing an extension I guess it's time to dust off the slide ruler and break out the lab coat :(

Of course,
Anyway... I think that this approach to window management is more organized that the more popular stacking desktop metaphor.  At least for me, it's simpler to have everything laid out instead of lots of minimizing and stuff.
