Title: management grid?
Post by: jackokring on October 29, 2011, 06:10:01 AM
A nice idea would be a PXE netboot style extension of placing the /tce on a network (samba?) volume and doctoring the tcz installer to deactivate based on interface DHCP ip not being the gateway ip. This would allow central installation management via the gateway machine, and would sure be good for making network installations.

An option to verify booted system before gateway traffic routing commences (and periodic checks) would prevent downloading another bootable requiring evidential presence of the unwanted boot volume.

Cheers Jacko

You can currently have TCE on NFS, AOE, and NBD.
SMB/CIFS does not support unix permissions.

As far as DHCP and gateway, the DHCP server can assign any gateway you want.
