HI Guys
I''m using TC4.0 but when I used appbrowser it does not go to 4.x repository , how do I fix that? TIA

You need to get a network connection first.

I'm not to sure what you mean I'm connected to the Internet and the appbrowser is connected to tc3.x repository from which I can install file.

Ok when tc4 got out Robert mentionned that we should get our apps from 4.x repository at http://distro.ibiblio.org/tinycorelinux/4.x/x86/tcz/ (http://distro.ibiblio.org/tinycorelinux/4.x/x86/tcz/)
Now when I use appbrowser at the top it shows http://distro.ibiblio.org/tinycorelinux/ (http://distro.ibiblio.org/tinycorelinux/) I'm dont know if this is the 3.x repository but I'm getting my apps from somewhere which is not the one mentionned by Robert. Thanks

AppBrowser adds the 4.x/x86/tcz to the link shown when it connects.

If you look at my first post that is what it is not doing, when I start appbrowser and click connect I dont have a choice and right now it does not go to the 4.x repository, my question is, how do I change that. Thanks

You do not get a choice until you install mirrors.tcz.
If you get an applications list when you click connect then
you are connecting to the proper repository.
AppBrowser displays the MIRROR.
AppBrowser adds the 4.x/x86/tcz to the mirror shown when it connects.
It does NOT display the 4.x/x86/tcz.

thanks for the explanation and I guess the reason the files I see using Google chromium are different than the one I see using appbrowser is that the abbbrowser filters the files as required. Thanks again

Sound problems using Alsa with the 4.0 versions have been reported.
One recommendation I have seen is to install the alsa-driver-2.6.33.3-tinycore.tcz, before installing other alsa extensions.
Using my browser, I see these are listed on the default ibiblio site and also at the gatech site.
However, there is no alsa-driver .tcz listed when I use the appbrowser with the 4.02 TCL live CD.
Seems to me that is a bug, not a feature.

Try using alsa-modules-3.0.3-tinycore.tcz. It looks like the drivers were moved into it.

Appbrowser ensures extension selection from the proper repository, i.e., 4.x/x86/tcz for tinycore 4.x
Using a web browser to mix 3.x extensions with a 4.x system will surely result in problems.
If you are having issuses with specific extensions please post in the extension area.

No, I wasn't. I was using the AppBrowser on the TCL 4.02 base looking for the alsa extensions designed for TCL 4.
Others suggested that these would be in the alsa-drivers-2.6.33.3-tinycore.tcz. This was uploaded to v 4 repositories in Aug 2011.
However, the TCL base version 4.02 AppBrowser doesn't display this tcz in any of the mirrors I looked at this evening.
If the version 4 extensions are actually in the repository, I see that as a problem with TCL base...

As Rich pointed out in 4.x use alsa-modules-3.0.3-tinycore.tcz which appbrowser does indeed see.
In fact if you use appbroswer to select alsa.tcz you would automactically get alsa-modules-3.0.3-tinycore.tcz as it is a listed dependency.
Also be sure to read the .info file when displayed in appbrowser.
Did you also get alsaconf.tcz? It should help in auto detecting your card. It is a separate extension.

The next time I tried, I remember seeing the 3.0.3-tinycore.tcz being downloaded when I downloaded the alsa.tcz.
I DID also get the alsaconf.tcz.
After working on this a while, it seemed to me that I previously had problems with getting sound working under some linux distros and had to edit the alsa file to add an option for my ALC262 card on this Fujitsu laptop.
Somehow, I have another thread on sound install issues which overlaps this (sorry). That occurred because I tried to use oss instead (without installing alsa files). That install went ok, and sound worked. However, when I tried to add the OSS_alsa.tcz extension, it downloaded alsa.tcz and then reported a failure in that part. I forget the exact error msg - posted on other thread - but involved cloop.

Do a search on "alsa or oss" (no quotes) and set By user to Rich. You will get about half a dozen
threads that deal with this topic. If they do not solve your problem, either continue on one of those
if your symptoms are similar or start a new thread for this topic.
