tzdata to 2011h
« on: August 19, 2011, 03:50:06 AM »
Hello!
We have important changes in tzdata-2011h (already available in Fedora):
Russia abandons DST in 2011, that means we shouldn't switch back to +3:00 from +4:00 in Moscow in nearest October. Other regions are affected as well.
Please, update tzdata to 2011h.

There are dabates wether DST is worth or not, there are pros and cons. I'm curious why a country like Russis dropped it.My personal opinion is that we do not need DST.

We were surprised too! :)
The main reason was that the time shift brings a stress, people work worse etc.

Each parties can argue for themselve :) What is more realistic for me that in a country across many time zones like Russia any time zone is a bit artificial at least in a part of the country :)

In the US our government actually extended daylight savings time a few years ago to make us more
energy independent.
