How to create a simple dialogue window

<< < (3/3)

Pats:
My XDialog front-end is working perfectly OK with TCL2.6. I use it to display calendar and other GUI apps.
Try TCL2.6 !

Error loading gtk1 - gtk1.tcz was not loaded properly at the time, perhaps network issues?

Segfault in 2.8 - confirmed.

Quote from the man-pages:

Xdialog is designed to be a drop in replacement for the dialog and cdialog programs (BTW Xdialog may also be used in place of gdialog). It converts any terminal based program into a program with an X-windows interface. The dialogs are easier to see and use and the new widgets adds even more functionnalities.

 To achieve this, Xdialog uses the Gimp ToolKit (also known as GTK+).

 Put follow in a file for eq: mydialog.sh and use it :

 <code>
 #!/bin/sh
DIALOG=Xdialog

$DIALOG --title "INPUT BOX" \
        --inputbox "Hi, this is an input dialog box. You can use
this to ask questions that require the user
to input a string as the answer. You can
input strings of length longer than the
width of the input box, in that case, the
input field will be automatically scrolled.
You can use BACKSPACE to correct errors.\n
Try inputing your name below:" 20 45 2> /tmp/inputbox.tmp.$$

retval=$?

input=`cat /tmp/inputbox.tmp.$$`
rm -f /tmp/inputbox.tmp.$$

case $retval in
  0)
    echo "Input string is '$input'";;
  1)
    echo "Cancel pressed.";;
  255)
    echo "Box closed.";;
esac

</code>

Hope this helps !

roberts:
Seems that Xdialog requires a special font. That font is now posted in the repository.

schumacher-clean-fonts.tcz.md5.txt

I also updated Xdialog's .dep file to include this font.
