I am starting this thread to hopefully be the guide for all who are asking this question. A search yielded a few threads on printers but none on how to in this particular case.

I have a Canon laser printer installed on a windows XP machine and am trying to use this printer over the network.

First hurdle: Which extensions are needed? Looking at the stuff in AppBrowser, yields confusion. From the descriptions, it looks like cups-smb.tczl and cups1331.tczl would do the job. But then there is a whole bunch of other samba stuff as well... what is actually needed?

So, loading and starting cups-smb as instructed in the cups-smb info file, and looking for printers in the admin tab, yields nothing.

So I am stuck at point 1. How to proceed?
