Regarding the $page_name suggestion above, one of the senior admins had emphasized the avoidance of rewriting source code for the wiki and forum directly due to the likeliness of software upgrades in the future potentially breaking the upgrade OR breaking the updates we make today, so pushing a 404 based redirect onto doku.php as suggested would potentially fall into that category.

I see that it's running Apache as the web server software, so you should be able to use mod_rewrite to rewrite the old-style URLs and put all that in a htaccess file without needing to touch any of the actual wiki/forum code.

@CNK: That would be assuming DokuWiki didn't already include .htaccess as part of their package (as does SMF, Wiki's is pretty elaborate, the forum's is simple TZ and RewriteEngine on.)

I'll look into options once my itinerary is cleared.

First of all:  many thanks to all who were envolved in getting the wiki back up and working ...

I am back after being distracted  for quite some time and I am having problems to login at the wiki. No problems here at the forum.
