Agreed.  There are lots of uses (particularly for dedicated function machines) where minimal startup time is important.  TC looks very good when compared with windows.  But for some uses its real competition in terms of start up time is the MP3 player, the DVD or CD player, pen and paper, the telephone, etc.

I can't use suspend mode on my machine so I don't know how fast it is but for those that can I assume startup is under 10 seconds. Seems to me that's the way to go for an mp3 player.
