libcap vs. libcap-ng

(1/1)

andyj:
There are two libcap's in the 8.x 64-bit repo. Does it matter which I use for extensions? What's the difference anyway?

Juanito:
libcap is the kernel.org version and libcap-ng is redhat's fork.

I don't really know the difference between them or if one is better than the other, some apps will only work with one and not the other...

From the  libcap-ng.tcz.info  file:

--- Quote ---library to make programming with posix capabilities easier than the traditional libcap library
--- End quote ---

The extensions dependency file will call out the one it needs.

andyj:
If I'm building extensions for the repo does it matter? It looks like it only it only affects BIND in my list. Do we have a direction?

Juanito:
Feel free to use whichever one you like  :)
