windows managers

Does the TCL 2.0 TCE/TCZ jwm extension give some extra functionality beyond the default desktop?

If I want to use the flwm extension, do I use FLWM in the bootcode (I've seen JWM there)? Would I have to enter it every time I boot?

tinycore already has jwm so no need to use jwm extension. The jwm extension is for microcore users, as microcore has no default window manager. The jwm extension has no additional functionality.

If you elect to use an alternate window manager extension, (e.g, flwm or hackedbox) then you do not need to use the desktop=.... However if you have more than one additional window manager extension being loaded then the last one (alphabetically)  will be defaulted. You may always override the defaulted window manager by using the desktop=...  boot code.

Thanks. Tried flwm.tcz (doh) first and got a black desktop with the dreaded x in the middle. With the tce version though it boots right into flwm.

Black screen with big X is a timing issue.
2.1 will have a fix for most timing issues.

In the meantime...

Where you see a sync after the first line of .xsession, change it to sleep 1

2.1 will have a better solution, but till then that should help.
