[SOLVED] error [?] message during TC 5.0 boot
« on: September 30, 2013, 05:19:18 PM »
When booting in TC 5.0 there's a message:

"microcode: failed to load file amd-ucode/microcode_amd.bin"

This message does not appear during 4.x booting.

The microcode module is loaded in both, so perhaps it's just a changed warning priority or an added warning.

It's harmless, but there to notify you that you can download CPU firmware if you want. CPU makers occasionally release updated microcode to fix bugs. These are embedded in BIOS updates, but you can also download them directly and apply in Linux.
The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.
